Championing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action Beyond 2014

Our Objectives

1

Advocate and mobilize support for the full and comprehensive implementation of the ICPD Progamme of Action beyond 2014, including the unfinished business and the emerging issues.

Canvass for the inclusion of population and development issues, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, in the post 2015 Development Agenda.

Campaign for and support the implementation of Universal Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health information and services for all.

Process to establish the ACCPD

01.

Yaounde, Cameroon (2013)

CSOs involved in planning the 6th Africa Sexuality Conference agree on a plan to bring together CSO voices in support of ICPD to champion SRHR issues in the 20 year review.

02.

Accra, Ghana (2013)

Interim group meets to agree on advocacy priorities ahead of global negotiations towards the adoption of an ICPD agenda beyond 2014.

03.

CPD 47, New York (2014)

Interim group meets in New York at sidelines of the 47th Commission on Population and Development to champion and build support for SRHR priorities.

04.

UNGA 69, New York (2014)

ACCPD representative speaks at the UNGA 69 in support of ICPD Beyond 2014, calling for action across Africa on human rights, equality and assuring SRHR.

05

Nairobi, Kenya (2015)

Members meet to agree on Governance and Communication issues. A 2015 action plan is drawn out and advocacy priorities for the year agreed.

06.

Africa & Global (2015)

ACCPD features in key processes at continental and global levels, calling for action on key ICPD commitments - particularly in line with Agenda 2030 (global) and Agenda 2063 (Africa).
